How to Get Your Products Into ChatGPT Shopping and Agentic Checkout: What Sellers Can Verify Today
What sellers can verify today about agentic checkout: ACP, UCP, Shopify Agentic Storefronts, Google Merchant Center and Stripe, with status and source dates.
Disclosure: This page contains no tracked affiliate links. We have not run these tools or protocols ourselves. Every status below comes from the official sources recorded in our directory, last checked October 17, 2026. This area changes quickly, so confirm at the source. See our full disclosure and methodology.
This is general information, not legal or technical advice, and it does not promise any placement in AI shopping results.
“Agentic shopping” means an AI assistant helps a buyer find a product and, in some cases, check out. For a seller the practical question is narrow: which routes exist today, who maintains them, and what do they ask of you? This guide lists only what our directory has recorded from official sources. For the wider picture see Agentic shopping for sellers.
Three routes, by effort
1. Platform routes (least engineering)
- Shopify Agentic Storefronts: status “Active by default for eligible stores”. Shopify’s help page describes managing channels in Sales channels > Agentic, with orders showing channel attribution. Check your product data quality first. See the profile.
- Google Merchant Center UCP integration: “Rolling out; US first, Australia and Canada to follow (per Google)”. It is the official way to get checkout on Google AI Mode and Gemini, and you can start with cart transfer, which needs less engineering than native checkout. See the profile.
2. Payment and checkout providers
- Stripe Agentic Commerce Suite: available in the US, Canada and select European countries, with some features in private preview. One integration covers a catalog feed plus agent checkout. Stripe suggests keeping inventory and price feeds fresh (about every 15 minutes) or checkouts fail. See the profile.
- PayPal Agent Toolkit: a developer toolkit, not a ready-made storefront channel. See the profile.
- Mastercard Agent Pay: launched as a program, with rollout details not verified. See the profile.
3. Open protocols (developer work)
- ACP (Agentic Commerce Protocol): Beta, maintained by OpenAI and Stripe. This is the route into ChatGPT checkout. Profile.
- UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol): open standard announced 2026-01-11, still evolving. Profile.
- AP2 (Agent Payments Protocol): open spec v0.2. Mostly a concern for payment providers and agent builders; for sellers it matters as the authorization layer inside UCP checkouts. Profile.
- Visa Trusted Agent Protocol: helps tell legitimate shopping agents from bots at your CDN or server. Profile.
If you are on Shopify: check what agents call
Two items in the directory carry dates you should not miss. The Shopify Global Catalog REST API is marked deprecated and, per Shopify’s changelog, stops serving traffic on 2026-11-02. Any app or agent you rely on that still calls it will break, so ask vendors whether they have migrated. Its replacement is the Shopify Global Catalog MCP. Our note: Shopify infers some descriptions and attributes, so check what agents see. For storefront calls, Shopify UCP MCP replaced the old Storefront MCP catalog and cart tools.
Product data comes first
Every route above reads your product data. Feed tools such as DataFeedWatch (a low-cost way to clean and enrich the feed) and Feedonomics (managed feeds, useful for large messy catalogs) sit in front of it. Accurate titles, attributes and identifiers matter more than any single protocol. For wording, see our prompt templates and Google’s stance on AI-written descriptions.
Monitoring whether AI answers mention you
GEO (generative engine optimization) tools track brand and product mentions in AI answers. In our directory, OtterlyAI is the cheapest verified entry point; Peec AI reports down to SKU level; Profound is enterprise-oriented and has a trial. Browse the AI visibility and GEO category and the agentic commerce category. These tools measure; they do not guarantee placement.
A short checklist
- Pick the route that matches your platform (Shopify, Google, Stripe) before looking at protocols.
- Clean the feed: titles, attributes, identifiers (SKU, GTIN), stock and price.
- If you use Shopify, confirm nothing you depend on still calls the Global Catalog REST API after 2026-11-02.
- Re-check official status pages monthly; several items here are Beta or rolling out.
- Treat vendor “agentic” claims marked “details not verified” in our directory as unconfirmed.
FAQ
How do I get my products into ChatGPT checkout?
Our directory lists the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP, maintained by OpenAI and Stripe, status Beta) as the route into ChatGPT checkout. You keep your own payment processor and either implement checkout endpoints or use Stripe's hosted implementation. Check the official repository for the current state.
What is the lowest-effort option for a Shopify store?
Per Shopify's help documentation as recorded in our directory, Shopify Agentic Storefronts are active by default for eligible stores, and you manage channels under Sales channels > Agentic. Check your product data quality first.
What is UCP?
UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol) is an open standard announced on 2026-01-11 that Google, Shopify and others use for agent checkout. It is still evolving.
Do I need to be technical?
It depends on the route. Platform routes (Shopify, Google Merchant Center) are mostly settings and product data. Protocol routes (ACP, UCP, MCP) need developer work or a vendor that does it for you.
Can a visibility tool guarantee my products appear in AI answers?
No. Visibility tools such as Peec AI or OtterlyAI are listed in our directory as monitoring products. They show whether AI answers mention you; they do not decide what AI shopping surfaces recommend.
